One Wild Ride

By Jake  - 5th grade

I was out on the prairie

a hawk flew over my head

dust blew in my face

I was sure that I was dead.

It was a cold and stormy day

as dark as the night

the lightning was so scary

I wasn't going to give up without a fight.

The horses went wild

and made a loud stampede

I knew it was going to happen

do you know what I need?

I jerked out my rope

ready to take a ride

I jumped onto my horse

I'm not going to hide.

I was jumping from horse to horse

trying to get ahead

I almost had them stopped

except for the one that lead.

I jumped onto his back

he gave me a wild ride

he jumped as high as he could

I landed on my side.

I'm tougher than a lot of men

and you know that it's true

but, if you don't believe me

I'll have to prove it to you.

My Monkey

By Levi -4th grade

I like monkeys

my monkey likes tea

my monkey is chunky

and it is a he.

My monkey is weird

It smells very funky

It's growing a beard

and it plays with a puppy.

My monkey is yapping

so this is the end

my sister is tap dancing

so goodbye my friend.

What Roams in the Forest?

By Brady - 5th grade

There are moose by the hundreds

I will recite a few

there are squirrels bby the millions

and there is also you.

I stood there transfixed

I saw a squirrel scramble up a tree

it looked like it was going to jump

it jumped into the breeze.

In Montana we have ferocious animals

take for instance the bobcat

we have exotic flying creatures

take for instance the bat.

As scientists discover more

I will come back to this poem

it will grow a few inches longer

about the animals that roam.

NO TITLE

By Ryder  - 5th grade

That big old mean grizzly bear

he was the meanest bear I've ever seen

that grizzly bear chased me

but I threw one bean.

The big bear didn't stop

I threw one more bean

that bean didn't work either

this bear is pretty mean.

That grizzly bear chased me up a tree

you know what, whats funny tho he was only 3

I don't even know if this bear can see

nope that bear can't see he just ran in to a tree.

That big bear just got up

he mus be pretty tuff

guess what I just keep throwing things

AAA, this bear is ruff.

I need to get home

holy this bear is green

I climbed down the tree

he just wanted to be friends with me.

 NO TITLE

By Ethan - 5th grade

I liked Meato

meato was big

I wish he didn't die

Meato use to dig.

When I was young I rode him

Meato was my friend

I had fun with him

I grew up with him until his life end.

Meato was the best

I wish he lived for one more day

it's to late he's gone for ever

I wish we could play.

I loved him like a brother

Meato was the coolest dog

he was the best

but now he's nothing but fog.

My Ferret

Mariah - 5th grade

I love my ferret

be careful

he will jump

and give you a fairfull.

He will be nice

or I will give him some smacks

he will squirm

it's not for love that he lacks.

He lick's my face

while I smile and laugh

he thinks he is going to get a treat

"boy" is he a daff.

now he has a bag of chips

he acts so proud

with his head held high

"I wish" he wouldn't be so loud.

Howling at the moonlight

Allyssa - 5th grade

Those praries sing while the coyotes howl

and the moonlight just afar

while the eagles swoop and the river runs

reflects a shooting star.

And the grass so sweet fulfills the air

and hearing the sweet rain sing

druming a steady beat before the ground

and once again to hear those coyotes howl ring.

the moonlight shining down into those coyotes eyes

that flicker from the moonlight ring

that continues to reflect on into my eyes

and the beautiful howling and the prairies sing.

Wyatt - 5th grade

The deer running in the field

the mallards in the sky

the fish in that green river water

now those rabbits, they're shy.

the owls in the barn lofts

the eagles in the canyons

the billy goats give a good fight

those dogs are good companions.

Montana's Nature

Barbara  - 5th grade

Wind rustling through the trees

and squirrels roaming around

chipmunks gathering nuts for hibernation

and dropping them on the ground.

Deer exploring the forests

looking for places to live

bears looking for food to eat

trying to be very secretive.

Rivers flowing through the canyon

currents flowing fast

seaweed at the bottom

gripping on like grass.

Horses on the ranches

waiting to be mounted

bulls in the arenas

being ridden for 8 seconds counted.

Wild cats roaming

in the mountains way up high

bald eagles flying

in the clear blue sky.

Mountains shining white

from glistening deep snow

great horned owls

hooting deep and low.
