Bad or Good Luck?
by Brandon - 4th Grade

There once were 20 tough men
they were rounding up red and black cattle
for supper the cook made beans and hen
they all rode on a five year old saddle.

One day in the mountains ridin'
all the men were laughing and singing
something strange happened to Billy O Ryan
then though the men saw, they weren't believing.

They were miles away from rattler country
but there was one that wandered away from its brother
he blended in so well, him you could hardly see
he didn't bother that there were no others.

Billy's horse's name was buck
Billy nor his horse saw the snake
it happened in 1 second, the snake struck
Billy fell, and when he hit it felt like a rake.

Buck ran off faster than the speed of light
Billy got up and sighed
Billy looked around then ran to the right
when he found his horse he couldn't believe his eyes.

He stood there then yelled "come here you guys"
when they got there they said of "all places"
then they rubbed their eyes
they were looking at an oasis.

They decided to stay there
they played poker by a fire
that day they cut their hair
they all had a cowboy desire.

The Big Horns
by Ashley - 5th Grade

In the mountain air
the big horns sleep
nobody would even dare
to slumber deep.

Deep in a clumber of trees
danger does await
an unexpected visitor sees
could be the big horns fate.

then the big horns scatter
for they know dangers in the air
the rocks start to clatter
they don't hesitate or care.

But what's over that ridge
could it be a cliff
or maybe a natural bridge
they charge on with all theory believed.

They have made it safely
on there promise land
all through it got drafty
they would strongly stand.

The Turtles
by Adam - 6th Grade

Turtles are not very smart,
they swim like fish,
if you eat them they taste very tart,
their shell is like a dish.

The turtles feet are soft,
their shell is pretty hard,
turtles can go in the loft,
they can't have a baseball card.

When they swim across the ocean,
they can eat lots of carp.
Turtles can have a very unique motion.
Sometimes their shells can be sharp.

Turtles always seem so fat.
They don't exercise much.
There is not such a thing as a turtle hat.
You should never get caught in their clutch.
