Native Land
Jordan - 6th grade

I gaze up at the great blue sky

Around the fields green,

Watching the rabbits and the foxes

And all the creatures in between.

The clouds flood lazily through the air

I feel a gentle breeze,

Hear the wind whisper beautiful songs

Through the tall pine trees.

As I rest in this beauty old,

I boldly take a stand.

I gaze around this place and yell,

“This is my Native Land!”

Gopher Grime

Aubree - 5th grade

I was 16

And definitely in my prime

What really put me out of it,

Was seeing gopher grime!

It was everywhere

As I was walking by

I burst out laughing

For this was no lie.

Suddenly I stopped alaughing (sp?)

I really felt quite sick

I leaned over the saddle

I made a lot of ick!

As I walked into town

I was quite lime,

When they asked me what was wrong

I said I saw some gopher grime!

After that

I never went on that trail

Because after that

I was quite frail.

But after a poor move

I told a lad in his prime

Only 16

About the gopher grime!

What I told that lad

Really changed his fate

When he came back

He was really late!

Start this poem all over again

Because that is what happened to him

I could guess what happened

Because he came back lime green and grim!
