Chilly Chipmunk
by Allie  - 4th Grade

I once saw a chipmunk

it was covered in chilly

so I started to think

I will name it Billy.

I once asked my mom if I could have a pet

it's name would be Billy

it would be a chipmunk

by that I would love and give it lots of chilly.

Once I saw a chilly chipmunk

it was talling tree

it would be a good chipmunk

because it would be named Lee

Once I had a chipmunk

he had ran away

I told my mommy

said he would come back the next day.

I went out to find him

he was a little dude

I don't know why he left

he must of been in a bad mood.

Doofey Deer

by Azure - 6th Grade

As I was walking through the woods

I saw a doofey deer

he was standing on his head

balanced by on ear!

I tried to get closer, but stepped on a twig

that deer could really hear

because he screamed

and I watched him disappear.

Then once again into the woods

I decided to peer

I saw him and he saw me

and he was out of here!

The deer is still around

that I don't have to fear

when I here that faint deer squeal

I know that he is near!

Then one day I got into my car

and I began to steer

but the deer jumped out and said to me

"I've started a career"

Then upon that deer's brown cheek

came a little tear

and I never will forget

that doofey little deer.

Bad Bear Breath

by Victoria - 6th Grade

Once there was a big brown bear,

who scared me half to death.

But to my surprise,

he ran away from my bad bear breath.

I closed my mouth quite quickly,

for fear that he might die

I guess my breath was way too much

for that poor brown guy.

I think my breath was probably due,

to the breakfast I ate this morning

I felt bad for Brown Bear's family,

for today they will be mourning.

I felt horrible for what I'd done,

so I sat in my room all day.

The next time I walk through the woods,

I'll hold my breath the whole way.

Spearhead

Justin - 9th Grade

The stout Indian picks up in haste

standing over the buffalo, he just faced

he pulls it out by the shaft, examining its bloody head

how many others, had it left dead.

This strong bone point, forged from many an hour

left buffalo dead and white men to cower

we will not be moved, it won't be your way

it here we will reside, till in earth our body lay.

Thunderhead

by Greg - 10th Sophomore

Sitting in my barn one night

something roared with all its Godly might

it seemed to be a tiny cloud

but then it roared a loud.

I watched and gazed

I was truly amazed

by this incredible power

but by this time it reached the hour.

This thunderhead was more then just a sound

the storm brought a rain that brought a pound

the horses became frightened

terrified then lightened.

The cows just run a muck

then I prayed to God to give me luck

he must have heard me way down here

for there they all stood and it brought a tear.

The animals large and small

almighty and great and just plain tall

all gathered round as if to hold me

it was the greatest thing I ever did see.

They gathered round and settled down

they were uncertain at why the light was brown

I held them close I held them tight

the storm then showed is last true might.

It gave a roar it gave a howl

but that never scared the old owl

we saw a flash we saw and stared

after that we were no longer scared.

For the storm was gone it left us alone

but til next time it rattled my bones

the storm was great the storm had said

with a roar it showed what it could do the almighty Thunderhead.

The Life of a Pioneer

by Blair - 12th grade

The empty traveled roads

people carrying their belongings in loads

all the horses stopped and "woahed"

the Life of a Pioneer.

Sleeping on the harsh cold ground

never knowing what was to be found

having your gun ready at every sound

The Life of a Pioneer.

Telling stories by campfire at night

watching the beautiful dawn light

always seeing a new sight

The Life of a Pioneer.

The wind, the cold, the heat

always the same thing to eat

dreaming of the next time you would have meat

The Life of a Pioneer.

In the end the traveling was never done

though it was hard, it sure was fun

can't wait to wake up and see that sun

The Life of a Pioneer.
