********
(No Title)
by Kate - 6th Grade

A long time ago
I once had a teacher
as mean that they go
that thought she was a preacher.

She thought she was cool
she thought she was tough
she acted like a fool
but wasn't at all buff.

Her name was Mrs. Streeter
she was pretty grumpy
she acted like a parking meter
her legs are short and stumpy.

She doesn't think this poem is very funny
she's make one about me
she thinks she'll sell it for money
she'll put it in a lock with a key.

Just a little secret though
she's really no good at ABAB
she makes bread that tastes like dough
guess she gets no fee.

The Cowboy Life
by Tony  - 7th grade

My horse is a quarter mustang
my chaps are old and worn
I'm done with my job of wild bronc bustin'
my new pair of wranglers is torn.

Our pay is low but that's OK
the ranch is old and dry
I'd never tell the secret way
my boots are fittin' so tight, it's gonna make me cry.

One snowy evening you can hear the calf's beller
the cow's hair is frosted with snow
it's so cold out it can make the cowboy yeller
and for the unlucky young ones the crows pick and go.

But a cowboy's job is never done
and a cowboy must not give up the hardship fight
he's seen better days one by one
everyone this here is a cowboy's life.

Horses
by Jasmine - 8th Grade

I love horses
the way they go
they do courses
around and around the pole.

I like to ride
all different sizes
around the sides
to win the prize.

I always feed
when I'm done
corn, grain, or wheat
it isn't fun.

I clean the tack
so carefully
to make it back
in time for coffee.

I also ride
during the week
to make the sides
of the horses breath.

I gallop the horses
up to the barn
run a few courses
then put them up for the nite, darn!
